Daily Area Rug Care
Area rugs may be more vulnerable to spills, stains, and damage than other flooring options, but establishing a care routine can help ensure area rug beauty at all times. By following our daily rug care guidelines noted below, you can work to ensure that your area rug will maintain its appearance and functionality.
Daily area rug care revolves around vacuuming your rug and working to remove dirt, dust, and other debris from the fibers. When dirt is allowed to accumulate within the fibers of your rug, it can lead to premature aging and a weathered appearance. How often you vacuum will depend on the traffic your rug receives, but you should plan on doing so every week at a minimum.
Encouraging guests to remove their shoes and placing entry mats at your home's doors can also help ensure dirt is not tracked in on your rug.
You may also rotate your rug to ensure UV damage does not occur.
Area Rug Spills & Stains
Area rugs are susceptible to damage from spills or stains, but an accident does not always need to lead to lingering damage. The key is to act fast when an accident occurs! When a liquid spill occurs on your rug, grab a cloth and absorb the substance immediately. If the stain persists, consult your manufacturer on approved cleaning solutions. For spills or messes of the solid variety, use your vacuum.
